U.S. Congressman Visits Corporate Office
Illinois Congressman Robert Dold (R-IL-D10) pays visit to DaVita, Inc.’s Lifeline Vascular Access and VillageHealth corporate offices
Vernon Hills, Illinois. 10/10/11 – United States Congressman Robert Dold (R-IL-10) recently visited the DaVita, Inc. corporate office in Vernon Hills, IL that houses Lifeline Vascular Access and VillageHealth. While there he shared his insight on healthcare issues that impact U.S. citizens and in particular the population suffering from End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), both of which are served by Lifeline Vascular Access and VillageHealth.
“Hats off to all of you [at Lifeline and VillageHealth] for what you are doing,” Congressman Dold said. “In the relatively short time that you have been in business, you have provided treatments for patients over 500,000 times with impressive satisfaction rates and outcomes, and you guys do it each and every day. Anything that makes the lives of patients easier and more normal is a blessing, and you are having a huge impact.”
Following a color guard presentation from petty officers of Great Lakes Naval Base, Lifeline employees (teammates) had the opportunity to express their own views on the need for excellent healthcare for dialysis patients to the 10th District Congressional Representative. When asked about the biggest challenges facing the US government now in healthcare, as well as other issues, Mr. Dold expressed concern about the need for bipartisanship, indicating that partisan politics tends to deadlock Congressional action.
Mr. Dold, whose grandmother required kidney dialysis, is a member of the Kidney Caucus, a bipartisan Congressional forum that provides a means to discuss quality of care and life issues and acts as a resource on the scope and impact of kidney disease, as well as serving as a source of information on kidney–related public policy initiatives.
